grub2-common software package provides GRand Unified Bootloader (common files for version 2), you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install grub2-common
grub2-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the grub2-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep grub2-common *
You will get with grub2-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
